lol, well it seems i'm unable to send you a pm..so here's the quick and short version: 1. pick a song (obviously.lol) and load it into some sort of audio editing program (i use audacity). Then edit it down for time. 2. load your edited song into a program that can find the bpm of songs (i use one called "mixmeister") 3. from there, create a plain text file, and have it formatted like this: #TITLE:SONG TITLE; #ARTIST:SONG ARTIST; #FILE:SONG FILE.MP3; #BPM:BPM GOES HERE; #GAP:0; then save, and rename the text file, so it has the extension .sm 4. create a new folder, and put the SONG FILE.MP3 and the SONG FILE.sm into that folder. then move that folder into the /stepmania/songs/newddr (or whatever you want to name the folder where you're going to be storing new simfiles) 5. startup stepmania and then go to the option that says "edit steps/songs" and find your way to the folder/song that you've created 6. select a difficulty (they'll all be blank, as it were, since the .sm file doesn't have much in there) and start editing. :)
a couple small notes, the GAP in the .sm file refers to the amount of delay before the start of the song within stepmania, itself. and once you're actually in the editor, press f1, and it'll bring up the list of commands and keyboard shortcuts that you can use while in the editor.

oh, and one final thing. if you're going to use a video for the bg (such as the music vid) keep notes on the edits you make to the mp3. it'll help tremendously when you go to edit/sync the vid. ;)
Another way to make simfiles is using DDReam Studio. It is basically the same editor, but it allows you to edit without opening Stepmania and to view the spectrogram of the song, making this job a little bit easier, basically, you only have to add notes onto the "waves" of the spectro...

The steps are kind of out of sync for this song on SM5. It was fine on the older version of SM (3.9 I think). >< I hope you could fix it whenever you have the time.

ReplyDeleteI suggest you to upload this song renaming the RAR to avoid these problems...
Example, upload this song as "evoL yxeS - ara-T.rar" (the name reversed) than "T-ara - Sexy Love.rar".
